Welcome to Acclaim Magazine’s Heat of the Week for November 24, 2023. Here are our favourite new releases from Australia and around the world this week — Follow our playlist here for updates of the best new music every single Friday.

01. 1300 - GANTZ ft. EK

At this point, you know what to expect from 1300, but that doesn’t stop it from hitting every time. The title is a reference to the cult-classic manga of the same name, and the song honours this with thrilling sections of synths and some truly abrasive bass blasts. 1300’s raps are as high-energy as ever, and Seoul’s EK matches this with his own fiery passages. IN typical 1300 fashion, ‘GANTZ’ is a banger.

02. KIAN - THE WAY

Good luck trying to get this new KIAN song out of your head. His melodies are effortlessly the infectious, as they glide over distorted guitars and frantic drum crashes. If you’re a fan of artists like Jean Dawson and Dominic Fike, this is an essential addition to your playlist.

03. Lithe - Test My Love

Lithe continues delving into the reverb-drenched depths of alternative R&B on ‘Test My Love’. His vocals are distant and doused in effects, like a lost transmission in space. But the emotion in his melodies cut through, his sentiments floating in the sombre atmosphere. This is a must-listen for those who like their music a little nocturnal.

04. Yawdoesitall, Yasmina Sadiki, TAWANDA, DEVAURA - SEE YOU TRY

Yawdoesitall may not grace the microphone on ‘SEE YOU TRY’, but he makes his presence felt from behind the boards. His production contains the bounciness of boom-bap, but is enriched with the warm keys and guitar plucks of soul music. This serves as the perfect backdrop for vocalists Yasmina Sadiki, TAWANDA, and DEVAURA, who all stand out with unique styles and satisfying performances.

05. Jujulipps - GET THAT SHOT

‘Get That Shot’ is a submachine gun spray of raps. Jujulips delivers fast frenzies with an infectious attitude, making it impossible to not get hyped when this track is playing. The production is loud and chaotic, firing off laser-like synths and thumping 808s in an effort to match even a portion of this rapper’s energy. It serves as the opener to Jujulips’ new EP of the same name, which you can stream now.

06. Anieszka, Tentendo - Anomaly

Anomaly’ catches you instantly with its hazy synths and house tempo, a mixture in which producer Tentendo has become a master of over the years. What makes you stay, however, is the presence of Anieszka, whose dense, soulful vocals serve as a beaming light, guiding you through a funky fog. The end result is a dance-ready anthem and a series of melodies that demand your presence.

07. WHO SHOT SCOTT - WIPEOUT

WHO SHOT SCOTT shows off his versatility on ‘WIPEOUT’. His vocals range from chipmunked melodies that create an eerie atmosphere to stern, aggressive raps that slice through the mix. His multifaceted talents make this song reminiscent of a thrilling rollercoaster ride and serve as a true testament to this prospect’s potential.

08. Mike Akox - You Nice

You Nice’ finds Mike Akox moving away from the modern afrobeat sounds of his typical output. The track is slower and more spacious, thanks to guitar plucks and funk-infused drum patterns, reminiscent of the music you’d hear from the late, great Fela Kuti. This atmosphere allows Mike to take his vocal chops to the next level, using howling melodies and smooth whispers to make this a truly invigorating song.

09. 3NDLES5, Crazymike - TCG

‘TCG’ is a stylish smorgasbord of influence. Crazymike’s euphoric synths swirl like an ambient track, propelled by the grimy smashes of UK garage drum patterns. ENDLES5 raps witth a subdued cadenece, as if he’s been hypnotised by the ecstasy of the production. It’s something that is truly different in the scene right now, and is just a taste of the peculiarities that ensue on their project

010. Phil Fresh - comethru

Phil Fresh is getting funky on ‘Come Thru’. The production is bubbly, with synths making you feel like you’re browsing the Wii shop channel. Phil’s autotuned croons are endearing and immediately ear-catching. It’s a fast-paced, smile-inducing burst of pop.
